Defra retains Media Moguls for ethnic campaign

LONDON - The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has retained specialist agency Media Moguls after a four-way pitch for its Personal Food Imports (PFI) account.

Defra retains Media Moguls for ethnic campaign

The agency will plan and execute a campaign to educate nine British ethnic-minority audiences about regulations surrounding personal food imports to the UK. The target audiences will include Nigerian, Ghanaian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Turkish, Caribbean, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Indian business owners.

The campaign communicates the message that it is illegal to bring meat and dairy products into the UK from any country outside the EU. It also reminds people that about strict import restrictions on other products of plant and animal origin.

The pitch was managed by the Office of Information (COI). Media Moguls is one of seven specialist companies on COI's Cultural Diversity Framework.

The agency was originally brought on-board in April 2004 and has been retained three times.

The campaign will aim to maintain and raise awareness of the legislation and affect behaviour change among first and second generation UK citizens.
